Interior Design Portfolio – The Victorian Cottage

A gorgeous and cosy addition to our interior design portfolio is the styling of a semi-detached, Victorian cottage in the quaint little village of Wrea Green, on the Fylde Coast. We provided initial design concepts for the owners, including space planning, specification of furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, artwork and accessories, procurement, purchasing and order management and final dressing. The owners were thrilled with the final outcome and we just love the homeliness of the cottage.

This cottage home makeover is all about those cosy. curled up vibes. View the pictures below to see if you agree. To reflect the property’s coastal location and surrounding countryside we have added lots of tiny styling details that are subtle yet effective. You will notice lots of references to the sea throughout the home, mixed in amongst the client’s existing belongings and their own photography.

The brief for this project was homely, warm, and comfortable. We achieved this by using warm-toned blues throughout the cottage, paired with soft neutrals. Ambient lighting and a log burner add to the atmosphere, as does the use of natural wooden furniture. Lots of texture is also key to the comfortable feeling of this home. We made sure to use varied textures throughout the home, taking inspiration from the exposed brickwork. Cushions, fabrics, rugs, headboards, and even wallpapers all have different textures and contrasting textures.

This was phase one of a two-phase project. Phase two is to come in late 2022 and will include an extension that will give the home a downstairs WC, and increase the size of the kitchen and bathroom.  We will be providing the same interior design service for phase two of the project. We can’t wait to get started!
